Because of its national-level environmental contributions, Bosque de Paz is real estate tax exempt. Both S.A.s receive the combined equivalent of +/- $32,000 USD (subject to exchange rate) annually from the Costa Rican Government under the Payment for Environmental Services Program. This cash transfer program is subject to application and renewal every five years. The combined properties have no debts, mortgages, or any other financial obligations, save for a small annual business tax.
The property tax exemption for Bosque de Paz stems from an ongoing cloud forest conservation and orchid science program. That mission has been sponsored since 2004 in partnership with Jardín Botánico Lankester | Universidad de Costa Rica.
